‘Golden’ moment for change?

They say silence is golden, but in this case Golden is silent.

Anne Golden, chair of the Transit Investment Strategy Advisory Panel, revealed in an onstage interview at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre Nov 12 that easing traffic congestion in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area (GTHA) and finding funding for the process is quite “doable”. However, in an interview afterward she buttoned her lips.

She stated that the committee has “more than an idea” as to how to solve the problem, but added that the proposed solution is a big secret and she will keep quite on the subject until December, when the task force presents its findings to the Province…

Big Move initiatives

Here are some of The Big Move’s initiatives, according to bigmove.ca. This MetroLinx plan has already been approved by Peel Region and every municipality in the GTHA.

  • Go Transit will offer two-way all day service to and from Toronto for Peel commuters
  • Traveling north-south through Mississauga and Brampton will be much faster.’
  • Fewer transfers between transit systems and seamless travel between Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and Toronto wil be made possible on the future Dundas Bus Rapid Transit line.
  • Union Station is already being revitalized to improve its quality and capacity and make travellers’ experience more efficient and comfortable
