Small incidental things can and will make a difference.
The Sherman brothers said it best when they penned the words “Tuppence a Bag” and Julie Andrews sang it in Mary Poppins.  Where will all the Milkweed go and with it, one of our most cherished  Cultural Icons, the Monarch Butterfly.
“ Monsanto sells $4.5 billion a year of herbicides-mostly roundup.”  Scientist for decades have observed that agricultural lands growing resistance to herbicides and that using Round-up only amplifies this accelerating immunity process.
Butterflies congregate along the edges of these fields seeking their favorite food, the milkweed. Hard to believe that Rachel Carson, a silent spring is 60 plus years old and we still can’t hear the call.
Perhaps every grade 4 teacher throughout the America’s could solicit the help of their students to spread milkweed pods & their seeds over the country side, this fall.. Speak to the local farmers, park departments and talk to teachers in the next district.  Help create transit corridors for one of North Americas most Majestic and long distant travellers.   Lets all help to save the Monarch butterfly, before it is too late!   Social and environmental activism combined with fresh air, geographic orientation plus exercise sounds like a real winning combination.
Wishing every concerned citizen the best of luck in this truly herculean enterprise.  Have a fantastic week, please feel free to pass along the concept to other like minded souls.
