The “Classic Café”, recently introduced to a number of Caledon venues, is a drop-in program for adults over the age of 60, which allows for an afternoon of games, educational speakers, snacks and even fitness classes. Unfortunately, social events such as these are few and far between for seniors, but it’s important to keep in mind that older citizens are a crucial part of our community and we must encourage them to remain involved. The name “Classic Café” came about from the legendary CBC radio host, Stuart McLean, who is known for his raw and realistic take on issues dealt by the elderly, and growing older. A majority of Stuart’s listeners are made up of senior Canadians residing in rural towns all throughout the Great White North. Much like the “Classic Café” drop-in program, Stuart McLean’s radio creates a unconventional bonding experience for seniors, as he deals with issues and circumstances commonly experienced by older adults, which can create a sense of comfort, and makes these individuals feel like they are not alone. A hot topic that Stuart will often touch base on, is the importance of when value really counts, which for seniors is often a common concern, for one large asset in particular, their home. In which we encourage and hope that they will look to their friendly neighbourhood appraisal company, Accurate (Peel) Appraisals, to receive the most precise Market Value of their home.
