Oakville 1. (a) Downtown Oakville Summertime: Week 2

It’s summertime in Downtown Oakville! Enjoy the warmth of summer by joining in on activities throughout the week. Weekly activities include outdoor movie screenings, live music, farmers’ market, fitness classes and giant games in Towne Square.

 Week 3: June 22nd – 25th, 2017

 

  1. Summer Solstice Yogathon Wednesday, June 21, 2017 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm Centennial Square Calling all yogis, health enthusiasts and sun-lovers! Celebrate International Yoga Day at the Town of Oakville’s Summer Solstice Yogathon in Towne Square on June 21st, 2017. This event will offer a full day of FREE yoga facilitated by a selection of the town’s most popular yoga studios!

6. Super Circus Spectacular Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Returning for a second time to Canada, the world renowned Super Circus Spectacular, created by famed circus producer Cindy Migley in conjunction with the Sarasota Producing Company. This 2-hour SUPER arena tour will entertain from start to finish, with artists from across the globe. Touring Canada one last time. Come see an entertaining cast of comical clowns, spellbinding aerialists, dare-devil motorcyclists and energetic animals. Located at Sixteen Mile Creek Sports Complex

7. Willson Oakville Film Festival Friday, June 23rd, 2017 – Sunday, June 25th, 2017 The 2017 Willson Oakville Film Festival showcases and promotes excellent films in all genres (drama, comedies, documentaries, shorts, animation) by Canadian and international filmmakers. Screenings will take place at Film.Ca Cinemas and The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

8. Secret Gardens of Oakville Sunday, June 25th, 2017 11:00 am – 4:00 pm Take in the beauty of eight gorgeous gardens with the Oakville Horticultural Society’s “Secret Gardens of Oakville” tour. This self-guided tour offers a great opportunity to see some of the hidden horticultural gems within the Oakville area. Come out for an experience that’s sure to delight new and experienced gardeners alike! Tickets are available at several locations.

  1. Music with the Mayor Admission is FREE! Sunday, June 25th, 2017 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Come to Bronte Heritage Park on June 25th for Mayor Rob Burton’s Blues in the Park! Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy the bluesy sounds of the Alfie Smith Duo on a summer afternoon. Hosted by Mayor Rob Burton. 10. HMC Multiculturalism Day Picnic Friday, June 30th, 2017 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm North Park Come to the HMC Multiculturalism Day Picnic and enjoy learning about other cultures! There will be cultural entertainment, games, face painting, bouncy castles, food trucks and fun for all ages! This event is free and open to the public. Bring a picnic blanket and a water bottle, and enjoy the fun!
  2. 11. Canada Day at Bronte 2017 Saturday, July 1, 2017 11:00 am – 11:00 pm Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park Happy 150th Birthday Canada! Join the Bronte Business Improvement Area for this FREE all-day family festival celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday! Oakville’s Canada Day is presented by Lexus of Oakville and the over 200 business merchants of the Bronte Village Business Improvement Area with support from its sponsors. This day-long event will feature activities for the whole family, including:
  • ·                     Farmer’s Market on Ontario Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • ·                     Vendor Village featuring local crafts and artisans
  • ·                     Food vendors
  • ·                     Music and performances all day long on three stages
  • ·                     Bouncy castles
  • ·                     A spectacular fireworks show over lake Ontario

Road closures Bronte Road will be closed all day south of Lakeshore Road (only local traffic with a valid parking pass will be accepted). Jones Street and Nelson Street closed from Marine Drive to Ontario Street. Lakeshore Road will be closed in the evening from Great Lakes Boulevard to Third Line. Shuttle service The Canada Day Shuttle Bus will be running again this year from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. from the Burloak RioCAN Centre to Bronte Village. The pick-up and drop-off location at Burloak RioCAN is near Home Outfitters. The last shuttle bus departing Burloak RioCAN for the evening’s fireworks will be at 9 p.m. Oakville Transit will be operating on a holiday schedule. Please check schedule for full details. Pier closures No access to the Pier in Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park after 5 p.m. These measures are in place for public safety given the large number of people attending this event. Other information Emergency services will be onsite during the event. Accessible Parking is available. Visitors are encouraged to leave their pets at home. Water refill stations will be available at the event.
